Warner Bros. is renewing and expanding its deal with OVO Sound. The label boasts Grammy nominee PARTYNEXTDOOR (expected to make more noise very soon), Majid Jordan, dvsn and Roy Woods, among other artists.
OVO exec Mr. Morgan, meanwhile, will move into WBR’s NYC office; it’s believed he will function as head of Urban A&R or to make sure WB execute on all the upcoming OVO projects, though that has not been officially announced. More Life should be Drake’s last album for Cash Money. I’m wondering, would Drake make the move to Warner Bros to be the flagship artist of OVO or will he re up directly with Republic/ Universal? With the on going war of words between Drake and Meek Mill, did Drake re- up his deal just so he can assert his influence to kill the momentum of Meek’s future projects?
Drake co-founded OVO with Noah “40” Shebib and Oliver El-Khatib.
